We began our experimentation with large scale 3D printed furniture for a group class project to design a stool. The Virginia Tech Center for Design Research helped us to gain access to a large robotic arm that were were able to attach an industrial plastic welder to for our testing. We modeled our stools in Fusion 360 and then used a combination of Fusion 360's CAM engine and RoboDK to generate machine code which could then be sent to the robot. We used PETG feed stock and the wood tops were machined out of cedar. Project members: Gustav Berner, Kaelum Hasler, Martin Angst.
